Cooperative Partners in Grassroots Advocacy

Currently, the majority of the country has more expensive energy rates than those enjoyed by the citizens of Indiana. However, this local advantage could change rapidly if deregulation and other related forms of proposed legislation become law. In order to keep Indiana one of the most competitive providers of energy in the United States, we need your help.

All you need to do is become an active member of the Cooperative Partners in Grassroots Advocacy group. As a member, you will be asked to write an occasional letter or place a quick phone call to your State Representative or Senator. These efforts will let them know that these critical energy issues are important to you and your family. As a member of a Rural Electric Cooperative, you have a viewpoint that is shared with 1.4 million REMC members. Together, we can make a difference.

Investor-owned utilities seem to have inexhaustible resources available to gain influence. In contrast, cooperatives must rely on a single resource for its strength. You, the cooperative member, are that resource and the touchstone of its strength. If you would like to become involved in this extremely worthwhile advocacy or have further questions, please contact your local Grassroots Coordinator, Sherryl Rhinesmith, at 463-7165 or 1-877-463-7165.
